Telembici Institute Roumain de Recherches Marines Constanta Abstract In this paper, we have noticed the presence of the "brown ring disease" at the mollusc Tapes decussatus (Linnaeus), which has been imported from France and it is now under a breeding experiment at the Romanian Black Sea littoral. The disease appeared in the spring of 1994, at a water temperature of 7-8 degree C, in a group of molluscs in an external pool for experimental breeding. The recorded mortalities have exceeded 80%. The preliminary results we have got after a strptomycin treatment indicate that disease can be cured. Key words: molluscs, disease, mortalities, treatment, vibrio
