Abstract
Present paper represents a comprehensive study on the zooplankton
from the Romanian continental shelf of the Black Sea. Indroductive
chapters present a synthesis of the performed researches on
zooplankton showing the main directions, scientific material and
employed methods as well. Actual taxonomic composition of zooplankton
is mention in the same time with species origin. Among 118 mentioned
species, 4 medusa, 5 pelagic copepods and 3 pelagic larvae of benthic
invertebrates are cited for the first time. Black Sea zooplankton
composition is in a continuous process of transformation showed by
new entered species as well as by the disappearance or diminishing of
other ones. Data on quantitative structure and annual seasonal and
daily dynamic of density and biomass in connection with the variation
of environmental parameters are presented. Evolution cycle of copepods
their reproduction and intensity according to season as well as annual
number of generations is also presented. Global production of
zooplankton, of different groups and species, productivity coef-
ficients and their seasonal variations are discussed. Zooplankton
provides a good trophic support, even an excedentary one. In the last
years a significant increase in zooplankton feeding fish species
have been noted. The final chapter presents the results on energy
and substance transfer between zooplankton and its consumer fish
species.
