Abstract
The spawning of the sardinelles in Mauritanian zone has only one
peak a year: June-August for gilt sardine (Sardinella aurita Val.
1847) and July-September for flat sardine (S. maderensis Lowe 1841).
For the period 1983-1991, that phenomenon can be explained either
directly (by gonad maturation degree)and indirectly (by digestive
tract fulness and fattening degree).
