Micu, Gabriela Plotoaga, Adela Bologa and Liliana Stefanescu Natural Science Museum Constanta Abstract This paper describes the most common microbial and parasitic diseases of captive dolphins from the Romanian dolphinarium from the period 1972-1990; infectious and verminous bronchopneumonia, erysipelas, diphyllobothriosis and bacterial enteritis. The authors point out the likely influence of environmental stressors on the outbreak of these diseases under conditions of the captivity. Out emphasis on patholo- gical research is important for protecting both wild and captive marine mammals.
