Abstract
Due to peculiarities of the coast Bulgarian Black Sea
mussel culture was initiated in open sea. Commercial 
technology in preparation does not include usage of
net sleeves. On unthinned collectors mussels (spring
spatfall) are raised up to 9-10 months to reach shell
length 40-50 mm and individual weight of boiled meat
over 3.0 g. Culture is highly mechanized.
