Abstract
Evidence on the identification, extraction and purification
of hyaluronidase from three small marine fish (Sprattus
sprattus sprattus, Odontogadus merlangus euxinus, Engraulis
encrassicholus ponticus) from the Romanian Black Sea coast
is presented. The highest hyaluronidase activity was found
in Engraulis encrassicholus ponticus during gonade maturation.
The enzyme has been purified by extraction in sodium acetate
buffer pH 4.3, ammonimum sulphate precipitation at 75% satura-
tion, dialysis against distillet water in continuous flow,
aseptical filtration and freeze-drying. The hyaluronidase
has been purified some 150 fold and activity was 300 IU/mg
at pH 4.7-5.0 and 37 grade C.
