SUR LE STOCK DE MOULES (Mytilus galloprovincialis

Abstract
On the basis of the researches carried out between
1970-1984, this paper presents the average densities
and biomasses of the mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis
LAM.) in various zones of the Romanian continental shelf.
Although the densities and biomasses record important
oscillations both in space and time, the author establishes
a tendency of the mussel stocks to diminish from 1970 until
1984. The general decrease of the mussel biomass occurres
parallel to the changing of the class-size structure of the
populations, which has been invariability dominated by small-
sized specimens in recent years. Takeing into consideration
the dominance of the young specimens in the populations, the
author appreciates that the stocks can restore in normal
ecological conditions.
