Abstract
The paper concerns the growth of Spirulina platensis under
laboratory culture conditions, in nutritive media containing
different concentrations of procaine. It was stated that lower
concentrations induce a slight increase of the biomass production;
e.g. experimental variant containing 1 mg procaine per liter reached
an algal production of 107.5% as related to the control cultures.
The stimulative effect may be of interest for the large scale culture
of Spirulina.
