Objectives

  • Integration of existing basin-scale marine observation systems and harmonizing flow of real time observational data
  • Provision of basic basin-scale model-derived data products based on the nowcast and forecast of  geophysical, biophysical and biogeochemical state variables
  • Upgrade/develop the real time V0 forecasting systems in physics, data assimilation and ecosystem
  • Improvement of an on-line validation components

WP10.1. Coordination (MHI)

Management of the work package activity and participate in general project development, ensure links with other WP’s. Secure that the objectives and deliverables are achieved in time and with high quality. Providing in time deliver management reports and cost statements.

 

WP10.2. R&D INGV –task leader (MHI, IMS)

Improvement of data assimilation schemes, introduction of ensemble model forecast with evaluation of its statistical significance, improvement biogeochemical forecasts

WP10.3. Development and maintenance IOBAS-task leader (MHI, IMS, INGV, HCMR, NIMRD, OGS)

Improvement and harmonizing of the real-time data flow, installing of the oil-spill prediction component, installing improved bio-optical model, maintenance of the real-time functioning of the system, installing a GIS based visualisation service, developing of an on-line validation component

 

WP10.4. Production MH-task leader, (IMS, INGV, UOP,MERCATOR)

Provision of the real-time nowcast and forecast of the geophysical, biophysical and biogeochemical state variables. Establishing and provision of the products and services for end-users based on the geophysical, biophysical and biogeochemical state variables nowcast and forecast. Support of the user-friendly interface for presentation of the system products. Provision of initial and boundary conditions to the coastal systems. Integration of the Black Sea MFC to the European MCS.

WP10.5. CalVal-Quality UOP-task leader (MHI, INGV, HCMR, MERCATOR)

Improvement of the real-time observing system for the on-line validation of the geophysical, biophysical and biogeochemical state variables produced by the operational models. Perfection of the on-line validation of the geophysical, biophysical and biogeochemical state variables. Installation of the on-line validation of the end-user products. Establishing end-user feedbacks for evaluation of the products quality.
